"South Park" is renewed for three more seasons

It may be the best news you'll read all day – South Park has been renewed for three additional seasons on Comedy Central, as indicated by Deadline.

The animated series, which premiered in August 1997, is one of the best-rated comedy series in years. The three new seasons will include 30 episodes in total and will continue until 2022, reaching a total of over 320 episodes. This is the longest cartoon series that follows The simpsons.

"South Park is the greatest comedy in television history, unmatched by its satirical strength and cultural relevance, and shows no signs of slowing down, "said Kent Alterman, president of Comedy Central, and several other channels in a statement. "We will do as many seasons as they would like."

"Apparently, our efforts to cancel our own show have been in vain," added creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. "Fortunately, we love Comedy Central and Kent and our staff, so we look forward to new opportunities for cancellation in the coming years."

Season 23 has only two weeks of shyness and will air on September 25th.
