Specialized launches $ 999 Carbon Hotwalk for toddlers

Specialized designed what it calls the “Ultimate First Bike” with a full carbon version of its Hotwalk walking bike.

The frame, fork, handlebars and wheels are all carbon and the Rhythm Lite tires have also been redesigned to be lighter on this bike in an effort to make it as maneuverable as possible for young chippers. It’s the only kids’ bike Specialized has ever made from carbon and as a result it’s also the brand’s lightest bike, weighing 2.1 kg (4.63 lbs).

Specialized has also spent some time designing kid-specific features on this bike, including a 38% smaller diameter handlebar, an under-saddle grip that parents can use to carry the bike when the child is tired and profiled shrouds that make it easier. for the children to put their feet up. Specialized also built a new test for this bike to ensure it could support children weighing up to 18 kg (40 lbs).
The bike is designed for riders up to 88 cm (35 inches) tall and Specialized recommends an age range of 18 months to four years. As cool as it is, biking doesn’t come cheap. The original aluminum Hotwalk was priced at $ 175, but this one is more than five times the price of $ 999 USD / £ 999 GBP. The bike will go on sale from December 3, just in time for a letter from a very lucky child to Santa Claus.
