How we got here
Bob Kravitz, Indiana Columnist: On the day the Hoosiers were snubbed by the CFP committee along with the Big Ten, Allen hit the high road, saying now was neither the time nor the place to share his true feelings about the bowl situation. ‘IU.
Apparently that moment is now.
IU was and continues to be upset by two things: They are upset by the Big Ten who changed their minimum game eligibility rules to place the state of Ohio in the conference title game instead of ‘IU. And they’re upset that the league picked the two-game losing northwest over UI for the Citrus Bowl.
What Allen’s comments mean
Kravitz: Maybe IU thought no one would notice the uniform change. Either way, that’s now a storyline for Saturday’s Outback Bowl.
Yes, it’s mean.
Yep, that’s awesome.
Was this an intentional display of disrespect for the Big Ten? Of course it was, regardless of Allen’s statement to the contrary. The coach and his team have been talking about it since the announcement of the bowl. IU lost just one game all year, a seven-point loss to Ohio State and the Hoosiers felt they deserved better from the committee and the conference. Can you blame them?
