SPG against Khabib? UFC champion calls for re-examination of his retirement

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov does not want to be the reason why Georges St-Pierre is retiring.

Less than two hours after social media announced the announcement of St Peter's retirement announcement, Nurmagomedov offered the former champion a fight in a location of his choice.

"Let's do it in November," Nurmagomedov wrote to his official Instagram account. "After this fight, you can retire. I grow up in your fights and I have only respect for you, and I think I showed you George when you were in Moscow.

"But it would be an honor for me to share Octagon with one of the greatest fighters of all time."

Let's do it in November. After this fight, you can retire. I grow up in your fights and I have only respect for you, and I think I showed you George when you were in Moscow. But it would be an honor for me to share Octagon with one of the greatest fighters of all time. Let's do it with 155 pounds, or I'll give you five, because you're finished 155. Well, it's your choice between 155 or 160, Montreal, New York, Moscow or Abu Dhabi. M & # 39; send the location of my friend ? #GSPvsKHABIB #ufc #mma #history #RUSSIAvsCANADA

Nurmagomedov suggests that the fight be at 155 pounds, his long-time division, or at a catch weight of 160 pounds to give a stamp to St. Peter's. The former middle and middleweight champion has never competed below the 170-pound category.

St-Pierre, 37, is scheduled to announce retirement on Thursday at the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. According to reports, the catalyst for his decision would be his inability to fight with Nurmagomedov, who is currently serving a nine-month suspension following a fight after his fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 229.

St Peter responded to Nurmagomedov's message.

"I saw what Khabib wrote and I like it a lot," he told Ariel Helwani, of ESPN, via Twitter. "Unfortunately, these decisions do not belong to us. I will talk about everything at the press conference tomorrow. "

Nurmagomedov, fined $ 500,000 for his actions, rejected a proposal to remove three months from his suspension in exchange for shooting a public service announcement against bullying, calling the state host television the house card of prostitution and gambling.

At the same time, several reports mention Nurmagomedov organizing a boxing match in his native Russia. The 30-year-old Dagestan clashed with the UFC about his reaction to the UFC 229 fight, although UFC President Dana White said: downplayed all the bad blood and suggested that the champion and McGregor would be there this year.

White has also named former acting champion Tony Ferguson as Nurmagomedov's next opponent, although promotion plans are suspended while Nurmagomedov is serving his suspension.

If Nurmagomedov tried to argue with St-Pierre outside the UFC, it would almost certainly provoke a legal fight with the leader of the sector. The effectiveness of any legal action could be limited depending on the location of the fight.
