Spider-Man: Far From Home Jake Gyllenhaal explains how Tom Holland helped him deal with his anxiety while on the set of the MCU movie.
Jake Gyllenhaal recently admitted that Tom Holland had helped him deal with his anxiety on the set of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
“I was panicking,” the actor said on The Howard Stern Show. “It was a scene with [Samuel L.] Jackson, Tom … there were a number of actors in that scene … and I remember not being able to remember my lines. “
Gyllenhaal, who portrayed Mysterio in the film, also described himself as a “plank of wood”. “And I went to see Tom Holland and I was like, ‘Dude help me’,” he continued. “He said to me, ‘It’s all right, man. Relax.’ It was like he was me in so many situations. And I finally did. I just put a lot of pressure on [myself] because I love this world. “
The actor also revealed that he put so much pressure on himself to deliver because he was obsessed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, explaining, “… I love this world, man. It’s not me coming in as an actor saying, “Oh, I’ve done 60 movies … I know what I’m doing. It’s me who comes in every time, saying to myself, ‘I love Spider-Man. I love this world. I want to kill him here. ‘”
When Stern pointed out the massive nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gyllenhaal recalled, “… Exactly, like, Sam Jackson just rolls around with it, throwing in improv, they change movies around him. am just, like, I can’t even barely get my line out. “
Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck / Mysterio was introduced in 2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home as a former Stark Industries employee who lost his job after Tony Stark rejected his life’s job. After it was revealed that Mysterio was trying to get close to Spider-Man in order to gain access to Stark technology, enemies clashed in London and Mysterio was defeated. The mid-credits scene revealed that Peter Parker was exposed as Spider-Man and framed for Beck’s murder.
Although it was recently confirmed in the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Path Home that Alfred Molina will return as Doc Ock, it had already been suggested that Mysterio would have some sort of presence in the film. It is also rumored that Jamie Foxx could return to Electro – a role he played opposite Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man in The Incredible Spider-Man 2 (2014). In related news, a team of VFX artists recently claimed that leaked footage of Garfield on the No way home the whole thing is in fact real, despite Garfield’s denial. Specifically, the VFX artists at Corridor Crew suggested that there was too much detail in the clip for it to be a “deep fake.”
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Path Home hits theaters on December 17th.
