Spike lee admitted to questioning the “official explanations” of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Lee made these comments during a New York Times interview promoting his new four-part documentary series New York Epicentres: 09/11/2021½, which premiered on HBO on Sunday.
The episode, according to the HBO synopsis, “is a rich tapestry of 21st century New York City, weaving together the stories, memories and ideas of those who have witnessed New York’s greatest challenges. “.
At one point in the interview, the reporter Reggie Hill asked why the last episode of the series “spends a lot of time wondering how and why the towers fell,” adding, “You are interviewing several members of the Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth conspiracy group.”
“Because I still don’t… I mean, I have questions,” Lee replied. “And I hope that maybe the legacy of this documentary is that Congress has a hearing, a Congressional hearing on 9/11.”
Ugwu went on to clarify Lee’s position on the 9/11 conspiracy theories, asking him if he was “not buying the official explanations” for the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
“The amount of heat it takes to melt steel, that temperature is not reached,” Lee explained. “And then the juxtaposition of how Building 7 fell to the ground – when you put it next to other building collapses that were demolitions, it’s like you’re looking at the same thing. make up their own mind. My approach is to put the information in the film and let people decide for themselves. I respect the intelligence of the audience.
Ugwu continued to push the director, noting that he was not advising people to make up their own minds about other conspiracy theories, including that “the vaccine is poison” or whether the president Joe biden was truly elected.
“People will think what they think, whatever. I’m not dancing around your question. People will think what they think. People called me a racist for “doing the right thing”. People said in ‘Mo’ Better Blues’ that I was anti-Semitic. “She has to have it,” that was misogynistic, ”Lee explained. “People will think what they think. And you know what? I’m still here, making four decades of cinema.
