Impact Wrestling hosted a series of TV tapes on Friday night and during it, this year’s Hall of Fame inductee was revealed.
It happened during the taping of the upcoming Knockouts Knockdown event. Impact has announced that Awesome Kong will be inducted. She dedicated her induction speech to Daffney, who just passed away after a battle with mental health issues.
While on promotion, she was a two-time Knockout champion and won the Knockouts tag team championship with Hamada. She also won the Gauntlet for the Gold in 2016.
Kong was a prominent and dominant star for the class of 2007-2010. She had a notable rivalry with Gail Kim who helped advance women’s wrestling into what it is today.
She returned in 2015 after a stint in WWE, but only stayed for a year. Kong has announced his retirement from wrestling at NWA EmPowerrr.
