Sporting KC mourns the passing of Terez Paylor, sports journalist and former KC Star beat writer

Sporting Kansas City joins the mourning of outstanding sports journalist Terez Paylor, who died Tuesday at the age of 37.

Paylor joined the Kansas City Star in 2006 after graduating from Howard University and spent nearly 12 years as a senior sports writer for the publication. He covered Sporting Kansas City from 2009 to 2012, including the club’s rebranding and move to Children’s Mercy Park.

Paylor, a Professional Football Hall of Fame voter, was the All-Star Principal Writer for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013 to 2018. He went on to become known nationally as a Senior NFL Writer for Yahoo! Sportsman in a role he held until his death.

Sporting Kansas City expresses its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Paylor.
