NEW YORK – A sponsor of New York sports betting legislation said the bill would likely allow in-person betting at venues such as Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden.
Assembly member Gary Pretlow said on Friday that the bill he had announced this week was being tweaked and that it would include this provision unless it was made public. he does not receive strong opposition.
"This is one of the changes we would like to open to have affiliates such as Madison Square Garden, who expressed an interest in doing so," Westchester County Democrat told a panel of Cardozo Law School. "I think it's a great idea."

State Senator Joseph Addabbo, also a Democrat, has adopted a more cautious tone.
"To do it right, I think we need to do it very methodically," Addabbo said. "I see sports betting taking place over a number of years, to make sure we do it legally and with respect for the integrity of sport, which is very important, and the protection of the consumer. would suggest that we deploy it at stages and other sites at a given time. "
The Supreme Court struck down a ban on playing in federal sport last year. Since then, no stadium or arena in the eight states that have offered gambling and sports betting offers on-site betting operations. New Jersey, for example, limits the game in person to casinos and racetracks.
Washington, DC, approved the game in stadiums and arenas in December, but it has not yet been implemented.

One of the features proposed in New Jersey and poses a thorny problem in New York is the sporting game on mobile. Governor Andrew Cuomo and other state officials have argued that the state's constitution should be amended to make mobile bets legal. But Friday, Pretlow said that he had been led to believe that the governor had revised his point of view.
A Cuomo spokesperson did not immediately return a message asking for comments on Friday.
The question is crucial: the amendment to the constitution could take more than two years, and Mr. Pretlow said that if the administration maintained its position on its current legislation, "I will not have the vote ".
Four casinos in northern New York State have been allowed to offer sports games of chance but are still awaiting the final regulatory approval of the state gaming commission. Stacey Rowland, board of Rivers Casino and Resort at Schenectady, said the casino was hoping to get the draft bylaw last year but did not receive it until January. Once they are published in the state registry, there is a 60-day comment period before final approval, she said.
"The status is, we are just waiting for the status," she said.
New York lawmakers only have to watch a state in the west to see the revenue potential of the sports game. In New Jersey, the state that launched the legal challenge to the federal ban, players bet $ 385 million on sports in January, which represents about $ 305 million online or via mobile devices.
This helped the nine Atlantic City casinos to collectively save an increase in their revenues by almost 20% over the same month of the previous year, before the legalization of sports betting.
"All due respect to all New Jersey residents," Addabbo told the panel on Friday. "We'll do better, and bigger, we're in New York."
