Spotify Launches Lightweight Music App US Stations – TechCrunch

[ad_1]

Spotify Stations, the light listening application of the streaming service offering easy access to selected playlists, has arrived in the United States. The application was considered an experience by Spotify – and by others, a copycat of Pandora, because of its support for instant music playback at launch.

The Stations app is designed for those who wish to experience a closer radio experience without having to search for music or customize their own playlists, which takes time and effort. It might also appeal to those who want a simplified user interface because the appearance of Spotify's flagship application is not what everyone likes.

Instead, Stations maintains minimalist things with a drop-down list of playlists and simple tools to customize yours.

In Stations, free users will listen to ads, sweep songs, but will not be able to skip tracks. Spotify Premium users will get unlimited jumps and ad-free listening.

The application offers a whole list of the best reading lists by genre, decade, activity, etc., but over time it becomes more personalized for the end user. Users can also customize their stations by selecting favorite artists, similar to the personalization experience now offered by YouTube Music. A Favorites playlist, based on users' own interests, is also available.

The Stations application has arrived on the market, initially for Android users in Australia, in 2018. It has just been launched on iOS a month ago, but again only in Australia .

At the time, Spotify had not commented on its application integration projects in other markets, but this expansion seemed to indicate that Spotify was getting good feedback from Station users.

Stations is available today in the United States on iOS.
