Spotify mixes are a new family of personalized playlists filled with songs you already love, then complemented with additional songs that Spotify thinks you will like, based on your favorite artists, genres, or decades of music. The new mixes are rolling out worldwide from today for free and premium Spotify subscribers.
The music streaming service already offers similar functionality in the form of daily mixes, which appear in the same “Made for You” section. However, the problem with Daily Mixes is that it can be a bit difficult to define the unifying theme of each playlist based on their vague names like “Daily Mix 1” and “Daily Mix 2”. Sometimes you can solve it from the included songs, but other times it can be more mysterious.
On the other hand, the names of the new Spotify mixes are much clearer. A marketing image released by Spotify shows playlists with names such as “Pop Mix”, “2000s Mix” and “Drake Mix”. Hope this will make it easy for you to know what kind of music you will find in each playlist without having to look at its tracklist.
According to Spotify, each Mix category will include multiple playlists, and they’ll be updated “frequently” to keep your listening from going out of date. Once available, you should be able to find them under “Search” in the “Made For You” hub.
