Your Spotify Wrapped playlist for the tormented year of 2020 is ready!

Spotify

If it wasn’t for Spotify Wrapped, I would probably still think it was March. But another year is coming to an end (praise) and Christmas music streaming is upon us. The 2020 version of Spotify wrapped up is now live for most users and you can find your curated playlist on the Spotify app and online. This is a quick summary to walk you through the process.

Spotify Wrapped has grown into an annual institution that gives you insight into what you’ve hooked up to your headphones over the past 12 months. Most of us have spent 10 to 12 months inside our homes and apparently we have listened to a lot of The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights. It was broadcast 1.6 billion times. Would I say that’s enough for a Grammy nomination?

Everything was on deck for Spotify this year, too – they released podcast rankings showing the recently acquired Joe Rogan Experience is Numero Uno on the podcast list, closely followed by TED Talks Daily and New York Times The Daily. If you’re running a podcast called The Daily Experience, I think you might be on to something. Seriously, this shows a subtle shift towards informative podcasts of pandemic news and another interesting little statistic is that the early hours of the morning were the most popular time to listen.

Me? I enjoy a little podcast by the fire to end the day. It’s safe to say I’m probably the biggest Protest The Hero fan on this side of the Pacific Ocean, according to my own list. All right, I made you wait long enough. Everything you need is below.

How To Find Your Spotify Wrapped

If you want to be part of the Wrapped action, all you have to do is head out on the Spotify Wrapped site and sign in to your Spotify account. It is so easy. Then you get a PowerPoint-like slideshow that tells you what music you’ve feasted on this year, how many minutes you’ve spent listening to certain artists, and an infographic about your top songs.

My choices are good. As yours will be. Unless you’ve been subjected to thousands of hours of Baby Shark (is that still a thing in 2020?) Or The Wiggles thanks to your little ones.

Beyond just getting your stats, you’ll also find a curated playlist of your top 100 songs of the year in Spotify. There are several ways to do this:

  • Go to the Spotify Wrapped site online and enter your login details. You will be able to open the playlist of your best songs (in order), your missed hits, and “On Record” which is a mix of songs, artists and podcasts you might like. It’s that simple.
  • If you access through a browser from your mobile, you will get the nice little visual preview of the year. From now on, the desktop version sends you straight to your playlists.

Your playlist on the desktop.

  • Or head to the Spotify mobile app, navigate to ‘Search’ and you’ll find the ‘Wrapped 2020’ card ready to be placed under ‘only yours’. Spotify takes a little while to deploy this one, so if you can’t see your playlist in the mobile app right now, just be patient!

The best advice? Mobile browser – you can add the playlist to your library this way. Or just go to the Spotify Wrapped site from the desktop and “Save” the playlist by clicking the heart. Then you can jump to “Your Library” on the Spotify app and it will be there, under the playlists.

Too easy, good listening, Merry Christmas, good riddance 2020!
