Spurs Sports and Entertainment publicly unveiled plans today for a nearly 50-acre new development in the far northwest that includes a state-of-the-art San Antonio Spurs training facility, medical and research offices. , retail stores, a park and a community space.
Spurs executives, including SSE CEO RC Buford, made the presentation in Bexar County Court on Tuesday morning.
The development is called the Human Performance Campus and it will be located off Loop 1604 and Interstate 10, near the La Cantera and Six Flags Fiesta Texas stores.
According to SSE officials, the Human Performance Campus includes a suite of world-class training facilities, state-of-the-art healthcare offices, community spaces and an outdoor plaza.

It also includes the Spurs Performance Center, which will be the new training center for the team which is expected to be one of the best sports centers in all professional sports. Spurs’ current training center is located off Huebner Road.
In total, the campus will be over 504,000 square feet and the total cost of the project is estimated at $ 510.8 million, according to the presentation made Tuesday to the tribunal of commissioners.
The site is expected to employ over 1,700 full-time staff and is expected to be used 365 days a year for community gatherings and events.
Spurs officials told KSAT the project will be primarily funded by private investors. Development is expected to begin in October.

SSE executives appeared in Commissioners’ Court to seek approval of a county’s $ 15 million project contribution, which has since been approved. In return, the county will receive a 22-acre park that will serve as a hub for outdoor activities throughout the year.
La Cantera Park will expand walking and cycling paths and connect green spaces. It is also expected to have the largest dog park in Bexar County.
SSE executive vice president and general counsel Bobby Perez was asked if this investment means Spurs are committed to staying at San Antonio for the future.
“This is our collaborative vision over many months and many years,” said Perez. “This place becomes our home and our place where we put our flag in the ground for decades. With this support, we believe that answers that question.
