When a security guard at the cathedral arrested the 37-year-old man, he left the church and was arrested shortly after by counterterrorism officers, NYPD's John Miller said in a statement. A press conference.

In France, security guards at the 850-year-old cathedral heard the fire alarm at 6:20 pm Monday, local time, and evacuated the cathedral even though they saw no sign of fire, said a spokesman for the Paris Fire Department.
The alarm sounded again 20 minutes later, after which the security guards of the cathedral noticed the fire.
