The penultimate week of 2020 saw the end of the seemingly very successful Google Cyberpunk 2077 promotion, the arrival of Ubisoft +, – new games, and – updates. Additionally, the hit Risk of Rain 2 announced the upcoming expansion packs.
Introducing ‘Stadia Changelog’, our new weekly series where we bring together games that arrived on Stadia last week, games that have been rated for the platform and updates released for games on the platform.
New games added to Stadia this week
As 2020 draws to a close, Stadia only has two weeks left to deliver on its promise of 135 games on the platform. This week, only three games have pushed towards that total, including:
- Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
- Assassin’s Creed: Unity
- Origins of Assassin’s Creed
It’s been one of the slowest weeks for game releases on Stadia in quite some time, but it’s hardly surprising. The hype that led to Cyberpunk 2077 certainly influenced the decisions of other studios, although in hindsight some big releases after this shipwreck could have been good enough.
Stadia game updates
Ubisoft + is now on Stadia
As promised, the Ubisoft + $ 15 / month all-you-can-eat service has now launched support for Google Stadia. The service provides access to nearly 100 PC games, as well as nearly 20 on Stadia. You can read more here.
Risk of Rain 2 details expansion plans, more
One of our favorite games on Stadia today is Risk of Rain 2, an incredibly fun multiplayer roguelike that arrived on Stadia with an exclusive level during the summer. At the time, the game had just exited its Early Access and released the v1.0 update. Now the game’s developers are detailing their plans for the future.
In an article this week, Hoppo Games published the first details of not one, but two expansions coming to Risk of Rain 2 in 2021. The first expansion for Risk of Rain 2 will arrive in March 2021 as a bet. free update. This anniversary expansion will bring a new survivor, a new boss, new items and new skills for five of the game’s characters, among other, smaller changes.
Later in 2021, Risk of Rain 2 will resume a paid expansion, which will arrive in a few updates. With this expansion, players can expect more characters, bosses, items, stages, events, elite types, a new game mode, and even alternate stages. of final bosses. Additionally, this paid Risk of Rain 2 expansion will also offer more music which is a huge highlight of the game.
The update will likely arrive on PC first, but with Risk of Rain 2’s Stadia port based on this release, it will likely follow closely behind.

Upcoming games on Stadia
While we know more games are likely on their way to Stadia, announcements have been slim this week. On Thursday, Google announced three games intended for the platform, but without a timeline:
- Enter the Gungeon
- Reign
- Laura Croft and the Guardian of Light
Looking at the games that were rated for Stadia this week we only saw a few, thanks as always to our good friends back home. StadiaSource.
- Avicii Invector
- Epistory – Typing Chronicles
With next week being the last week of 2020, Google will actually need to release at least one game to set the platform up to 100 actual games, not counting DLC and upgraded editions.
What we play this week
Ben Schoon – Jedi: Fallen Order, Risk of Rain 2
While the rest of the gaming community has put it all on Cyberpunk, I’m enjoying a game from last year. Jedi: Fallen Order was one of my main plays this week as I immersed myself in the world it is building for itself. As a huge Star Wars fan, I’ve wanted to play this game for quite some time, and I’m glad it’s finally on Stadia. It was one of the games I really wanted to come back to the launch. Other than that, Risk of Rain 2 once again took a ton of overtime for me, this time with a few nights with my wife and two friends who are new Stadia players who all have multi-hour sessions. This game has remained one of my favorites on Stadia, and being free on Pro has allowed me to attract more friends to the platform to try it out.
Damien wilde – Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2
To be fair, I didn’t really stray too far from Cyberpunk 2077 or Red Dead Redemption 2 this week, but tried to get back into Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. I have to say though, I was absolutely in love with Stadia on iPad. Stadia was exceptional as a stopgap and while the Safari web app workaround is an odd way to access Stadia, it is so necessary for the platform. Being that I’m pretty platform independent, I’m going to say bluntly that the way to play Stadia for me is on the iPad. It’s the perfect screen size for mobile gaming, and I can use the Xbox One gamepad, which I really think could be on the verge of perfect.
Bradley Chambers – Cyberpunk 2077
This week, like a lot of Stadia players, I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077. This game is my first game on Stadia, so it’s been a real experience. I had been playing on M1 MacBook Air until yesterday when my free Stadia controller arrived. I hadn’t been following the development of this game like many had, and I only pre-ordered a few weeks before it came. Playing on Stadia and switching from my laptop to the Stadia controller on Chromecast has been fantastic. I am enjoying the game so far and am glad that I didn’t have to download any 6GB patches either. After completing the main quest, I plan to move on to Jedi Fallen Order.
