I think we could play this game 100 times and each team would win 50. I really don’t feel confident anyway. The only thing I’m confident in is defending Iowa State. They’ll live up to the opportunity where they’re needed most and deliver crucial revenue to turn things around in the fourth quarter.

Rob Gray, Senior Writer – Iowa State 17, Iowa 13

It could end up being the hottest game in Cy-Hawk history – and I’m not just talking about the 95-degree weather forecast. The defensive lines will largely determine that outcome and I like the ISU a little more than Iowa for being up to the task in a… long… job. (AKA “competitive endurance”). More Brock Purdy> Spencer Petras and Breece Hall> Tyler Goodson. Wild card / x-factor for ISU offense? Tarique Milton. Iowa’s five-game winning streak in the series is finally coming to an end.

Jeff Woody, Football Analyst – Iowa State 23, Iowa 19

Well, first of all, there is going to be a small earthquake measured on the Richter scale just before kickoff. Jack Trice is going to be absolutely bouncy. That being said, this is a game as equal as you’ll find it to be, with both teams being fundamentally focused and accepting some unsexy football. The team that makes the fewest mistakes wins. This leads me to say that I would take Brock Purdy and his decision making in situations of pressure on Spencer Petras.

Plus, I can’t choose Iowa. Go on.

Jay Jordan, Football Analyst – Iowa 20, Iowa State 14

There are plays to be made against both defenses and the two attacks are a bit random to make these plays. Like everyone else, this leads me to a tight low scoring affair. Iowa is tested and the ISU has an identifiable tendency to fall behind early. This is what the ISU cannot do. Hawks again. Ugh

Bret Meyer, Football Analyst – Iowa State 13, Iowa 10

2005 comes to mind. Hot, windy, cyclonic weather. Twitter Analytics Beware, this can be a battle of conservative field position where the kicking game reigns supreme. We can see a few more territory punts, one or two baskets in the 4th and 1 inside the red zone. Purdy plays a late game to get us within reach of the basket. IT’S GOOD!

Todd Blythe, Football Analyst – Iowa State 24, Iowa 17

There’s only one person in the world who loves conservative, boring football as much as the Big 10 fans, and that’s Matt Campbell. Two heavyweight defenses keep this game low and close. A late score from Purdy to Kolar breaks the deadlock.
