We only played one game on Monday night, but it was definitely a thriller, as the winner of the St. Louis Blues game against the Dallas Stars was in the final two minutes of regulation.

About last night …

Game 3: St. Louis Blues 4, Dallas Stars 3 (The Blues lead series 2-1). Just as the Stars had taken advantage on their rink in this series, they let it go. And while the Blues seemed to want to let slip this game, they rebounded with resilience. The third period was symbolic, but mostly wild, with a thrust of four goals in five minutes.

It was the Blues who triumphed – despite three times from the Stars – as Patrick Maroon scored the game's winning goal with 1:38 to play (about two minutes after Tyler Seguin tied again … again). The Blues were road warriors in the playoffs with a 4-0 record and all in one-goal games. We feel that this series reserves even more twists.

1. Patrick Maroon, LW, St. Louis Blues

There have been many times when "a boy from the area comes home to have a good time" in these series (see: John Tavares, Charlie Coyle) and Monday night belonged to Maroon. After joining the home team with a rebate last summer, Maroon scored the winning goal with a score of 1:38.

2. Tyler Seguin, C, Dallas Stars

If Maroon had not played spoiler, Seguin would have been the hero on Monday. His tying goal with 4:08 left sent the crowd into a frenzy. The top line was once again great in this match; they have now combined for 10 goals and 56 very dangerous playoff opportunities.

3. Jaden Schwartz, LW, St. Louis Blues

After finishing the season with only 0.16 goals per game (the second lowest rate of his career), Schwartz rebounded decisively in those series. The team leader in goals (six) averages .67 per game, including the initial count, on Monday. And again, Schwartz has responded positively to a change of scale.

Boston Bruins vs. Columbus Blue Jackets Match 3 at 7 pm ET (1-1 tie series)

When the fans come to the Nationwide Arena, they will receive free jerseys on which it is stated: The win in the first round is not the goal. It's the mantra of the Blue Jackets, who are organizing their first-round second-round match in franchise history. Columbus comes into play after rediscovering his offense and taking advantage of the Bruins on the ice. It looks like Bruce Cassidy is still mixing the Boston lines; David Pastrnak could start playing in the third row against Charlie Coyle (and against the last six defenders).

San Jose Sharks vs. Colorado Avalanche, Game 3, ET 22h (1-1 tie series)

Nathan MacKinnon is arguably the most dominant striker remaining in these series. The top center has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in its last six. Teammate Mikko Rantanen also has a series of six points. When the series moves to Colorado, it means that the Sharks no longer have the last change and it is possible to place Brent Burns and Marc-Edouard Vlasic against him. San Jose is still likely to be outnumbered, as it is unclear when captain Joe Pavelski will return to the lineup.
