The Carolina Hurricanes stormed the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 10 years with a 4-0 sweep of the New York Islanders. Stars hang to push the blues to the ground
The Stars had a hiccup in the third period when Ben Bishop accidentally gave the Blues a gift, which allowed them to be part of the table. Bishop made an expensive gift by handling the puck and Jaden Schwartz was able to charge him.

Icelanders score twice in opening
It may sound a little misleading as the score is 1-1 after 20 minutes, but the Islanders have actually scored both goals. Unfortunately, one of them came on his own network.
New York scored the goal quickly with a goal from Mat Barzal on the power play, two-and-a-half minutes into the game. Barzal showed a strong presence on the net by lifting the baton of a defender and burying a rebound beyond Curtis McElhinney following a first shot from the point. This goal was huge for the islands, who were looking for a good start in a potential elimination game on the road.
However, the Islanders quickly made that goal when Carolina went on the powerplay a few minutes later. A little chaos in front of Robin Lehner, NYI defender Adam Pelech accidentally knocked the puck past Lehner and in his own net.
It's a pretty demoralizing turn of events that broke the momentum and led away the Islanders, but the score remained tied as the match headed for the first intermission.
