Star Trek Online players have gathered in-game to pay their respects to Christopher Plummer, the legendary Canadian actor who died at age 91 this week.
The Oscar winner may have been best known for playing Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, but he played the role of Klingon General Chang in the 1991 film Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country.
Plummer reprized the role of Chang for the 2000 Star Trek: Klingon Academy video game, which explained how his character lost an eye. The video below shows the intro of the game:
Players currently congregate at the various memorials located in Star Trek Online (in-game memorial plaques pay homage to the cast and crew of the Star Trek series and films). Redditor Lars2510 went to the Star Trek Online submarine to post a screenshot of a rally at Klingon homeworld Qo’noS:
We are on Qo’nos, instance # 23, in memory of Christopher Plummer / General Chang. Please feel free to join us from r / sto
Here’s a screenshot of redditor ReeseKaine, posted on Imgur, from another rally at Qo’noS:
Twitter user Grumpy Old Nord posted screenshots of a rally at the memorial on Deep Space Nine:

The official Star Trek Online Twitter page also paid tribute to the late Plummer:
In the hands of a minor actor, General Chang could have been a stereotype, a one-note character. But Christopher Plummer brought a seriousness and a respect to the man who defined the Klingons for centuries to come. Rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/AwCr7ESy1a

Tributes poured in from the world of Star Trek after Plummer’s death. George Takei, who played Hikaru Sulu in the original series and films, called the actor a “stage and screen giant”.
The sound of music is sad today, because Christopher Plummer passed away today. He was a giant of the stage and the screen, winner of an Oscar for “Beginners”. He died at the age of 91 with his wife of 53, Elaine Taylor, by his side. Rest in the everlasting music, Captain Von Trapp.

And William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the original series, said, “I’m so sad to lose him.”
A gentleman by the name of Christopher Plummer passed away today. It was what I call a friend. What is the definition of a friend? Someone you know intimately whose every breath and every thought that is so like you or a friend can be someone whose life is … pic.twitter.com/VodBKXm5Uz
