Dal and his crew may live in the Star Trek universe, but they don’t know the Kobayashi Maru’s primary directive. “We wanted to come in,” executive producer Kevin Hageman explained during the panel. “We wanted a bunch of new characters who didn’t know anything about Star Trek just like our young audience. They meet Janeway via hologram at the end of the first episode. “We have so much fun taking our time and presenting everything we love Star Trek. “
