Star Wars adds new droid stamps with U.S. Postal Service

The United States Postal Service and Lucasfilm will team up to issue 10 new “Star Wars” character stamps to promote education.

  • The new stamps – which will launch in the spring – are part of Lucasfilm’s new commitment to science, technology, engineering and math projects.

What stamps are there?

The droids are the centerpiece of the new stamps. Buffer options available include:

  • IG-11.
  • R2-D2.
  • K-2SO.
  • MAKE.
  • L3-37.
  • BB-8.
  • C-3PO.
  • A GNK (or Gonk) power droid.
  • Surgical droid 2-1B.
  • C1-10P, commonly known as “Chopper”.

Why are they released?

The “Star Wars” stamps are issued in conjunction with “Star Wars: Force for Change” – which promotes education within the “Star Wars” community – and the global non-profit organization “FIRST” (for the inspiration and recognition of science and technology).
