Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker trailer has arrived

The circle is complete. Star Wars Episode 9title of, The rise of Skywalker, was revealed Friday for the launch of Star Wars Celebration Chicago.

The Rise of Skywalker caravan begins with Rey in the desert, probably in communication with Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker.

"We have passed on everything we know, thousands of generations live in you now," said Skywalker in a voiceover. "But that's your fight."

We then see Rey brandishing a blue lightsaber and jumping on a ship. Other plans show Kylo Ren repairing his helmet, a quick look at Lando Calrissian laughing at the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca, Finn with Poe in the desert, BB-8 and the new droid named Dio and Rey kissing Leia.

"No one has ever really disappeared," Skywalker says. We learn that this could apply to the dark and clear sides of the Force.

Next is a crack of Star Wars fans: Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). Could the real evil of the galaxy come back decades after Darth Vader threw him to death in Return of the Jedi?

The title, the first trailer, and more details were revealed under the name of Director J.J. Abrams, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and members of the cast took the floor to offer some great tips on the film.

Abrams said that he was currently in the editing and visual effects phase of the film, but that he had given a plot.

"This film talks about this new generation and what they inherited, light and darkness," said Abrams, apparently evoking Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Issac) and Kylo Ren. (Adam Driver)

Abrams noted that the new film will not run immediately after The last Jedibut this Leia of Carrie Fisher will be part of the story, as previously confirmed.

"You do not do this again and you do not make it disappear," said Abrams, noting that the team had found a way to work with her even though she's no longer with us. "And if we could write scenes around her," said the director about the process to find a way to include Leia in the film.

Billy Dee Williams, cast member of Legacy, took the floor to point out that his character Lando had never left and that joining the new film was a surprise. He also brought a look at himself in one of Lando's showy outfits.

"I'm tired of being accused of betraying Han Solo … he was against Darth Vader, he had to find something! By the way, is that right? someone is dead? " Williams joked on stage.

Naomi Ackie joined the scene with the cast to reveal her new character named Jana. Although we know very little about it, she teased that she would be in a "bad adventure" with the characters. When moderator Stephen Colbert asked if his character was Lando's daughter, as has been said, she neither confirmed nor denied.

"Lando is a very charming man, so he can have children all over the world," teased Ackie.

John Boyega revealed that thanks to the time jump, Finn would now become a full-fledged Resistance fighter with a new haircut.

But with regard to his longtime foe, Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), Boyega has confirmed his closure. "Phasma yeah, she's dead," Boyega said.

In a new photo of the film, we see Oscar's poe Isaac getting closer to his best friend Finn. Isaac remarks that the friendship between the two is very serious.

A new white outfit for Rey was revealed when Daisy Ridley spoke at the Star Wars celebration. Daisy Ridley pointed out that even though her character had taken over the Jedi texts from Ahch-To, everything she had read was in the air.

"As we have seen that these books are quite large, she may have started," Ridley teased. She diverted the question of whether she had new powers in the Force.

Ridley, however, revealed that Luke Skywalker's lightsaber had survived The Last Jedi, so it looks like the object is coming back.

And a look at Kylo Ren's Adam Driver was also teased, with Ridley revealing that scenes involving Kylo will keep the character dressed, as opposed to the shirtless telepathic conversations they had in The Last Jedi. However, both will probably keep a version of their personal relationship, although Ridley can not say more.

"I guess Kylo and Rey's stuff … we'll have to see," she said.

And BB-8 will have a new friend in the form of the Dio droid, who has performed on the Celebration Chicago stage.
