What did you think was going to happen here? Did you think they were going to come out with a laser sword and take down the entire First Order?

These are the two children in a trench coat Star wars. And I like it.

During the last night live broadcast to launch the virtual version of Gamescom 2020we have a trio of looks on some to come Star wars video games that remind us that 1) this frankness is great, 2) Iit is also incredibly stupidand 3) this is why we love it.

EA started things off with a look at the story mode of the recently revealed Star Wars Squadrons, a 4v4 multiplayer flight simulation in the vein of legendary PC gaming classics such as X-Wing and TIE Fighter.

Located in the first years after Return of the Jedi as the new nascent Republic hunts down imperial remains, SquadronsThe story mode will have us play both Imperial and Republican pilots, side by side with familiar faces like Rebels‘Hera Syndulla (voiced by none other than Vanessa Marshall herself!) and Legend of the Thugs Wedge Antilles (who, apart from watch like Denis Lawson, looks a lot like him too – but that’s not officially confirmed yet). On the Imperial side of things, you’ll take command of a character who has already lived a long life in the comics and novels of the Star wars cannon: Grand Admiral Rae Sloane. It’s still on track for an October 2 release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

But EA also had a surprising curve ball: the next “game pack” for The sims 4 (downloadable content that is not as comprehensive presented as one of usual game expansions, but always add new mechanics and premises to the beloved life simulation) is not only Star wars thematic, it’s basically letting you go Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as if Batuu was a real place. In addition to clothing and decorations to decorate your regular Sims homes, Trip to Batuu will also allow you to send Sims to Black Spire Outpost.

You can do anything you would do in the theme park version, like build your own droid and lightsaber, or pilot the Millennium Falcon (and chat with Sim Hondo Ohnaka, who, incredibly, looks just as charming in the gobbledegook language. Simlish). But because The sims treaty Edge of the galaxy as if it were an actual location and not just a big amusement park, your characters can do things the park version still dreams of – mainly building a reputation with the Resistance and the First Order (or playing both sides like a sneaky smuggler) by going on a mission and generally being a Star wars star. His unbelievably silly, and another great way to discover Edge of the galaxy while it’s much too risky to go there in person.

Maybe the two, however, was our first look at Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. First revealed at E3 2019, the latest Lego video game is an all-new revamp of every main movie in the Star wars saga, allowing players to detonate and / or fight their way through all nine films of the Skywalker Family Journey. Not only does it look magnificent (seriously, Lego sets have never looked so good!), it feels like a pretty silly send off from the movies, mixing the craziness of the newer Lego series games with the silent comedy humor that made the first Lego Star Wars titles so loved in the first place.

Also: you can play as Yaddle. STEP ASIDE, BABY YODA, THIS IS LADY YODA TIME TO SHINE.

Sadly, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was supposed to go out Later this year, but has now been delayed to aspring 2021 – but that means besides releasing on PC, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch, it will now also be releasing on Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 consoles. Really, the Porgs in Stolen Robes have never watched so The next generation.
