Starbucks barista asks Tempe agents to leave because client does not feel safe, police say

A barista reportedly asked six Arizona police officers to leave a Starbucks in Tempe because a client was feeling uncomfortable, KNXV reported.

The six officers from the Tempe Police Department were at Starbucks on Thursday, the television channel reported. According to the Tempe Officers Association, police paid for their drinks and gathered inside the cafe, according to KNXV.

According to the Tempe Officers Association, a barista told the agents that they were making a customer "uncomfortable," the television channel reported. The police would have been invited to leave the customer's view or leave, KNXV said.

The officers are gone, reported the TV channel.

The barista's actions did not please the Tempe Officers Association, which tweeted his displeasure.

Reggie Borges, a Starbucks spokesperson, spoke to KTVK over the phone and said customers going to the café should "feel welcomed and welcomed".
