Stars Hamburgers on G Street in Arcata is temporarily closed, after a member of staff tested positive for COVID-19.
“Dear Humboldt, we have just learned that a member of our staff has tested positive for COVID-19,” owners Jennifer and Arron Eaton wrote in an email sent to Outpost the Saturday. “We have been closed for the holidays and will remain closed until all of our staff have been tested and we have had a thorough cleaning of our restaurant. From all of us at Stars Arcata, we thank you for your patience and understanding. We will post an update on our reopening plans shortly. Please be careful. “
The announcement follows many recent Arcata restaurant closures due to COVID-19, with Plaza Grill, Salt Fish House, Campground and Wildflower Cafe announcing temporary closures of their social media accounts last week. Wildflower has already reopened after all employees tested negative, and Salt recently released plans to reopen for the Foreign Service on December 1.
Earlier this month, Septentrio Winery closed its doors due to potential exposure to the virus. And while all employees have since tested negative, the company posted on Facebook, Septentrio will continue his break from inside and outside service. The creamery pub also recently announced plans to close as a precautionary measure, as the local rise in COVID-19 cases continues.
The Joint Information Center reports that of the 850 cases recorded in Humboldt County to date, 179 have been residents of Arcata.
