Start ‘Em, Sit’ Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst PPR based scoring system matches in fantasy football. This column will not cover elite NFL players like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey, Davante Adams or Travis Kelce. Instead, I’m going to look at which players you have the most questions about to help you define the most effective starting roster possible. For all of your final fantasy roster decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2021 NFL season.
Week 2 Start ‘Em: Wide Receivers
Beginning of the week
Ja’Marr Chase at Bears (1 p.m. ET, FOX): Drops, which drops? Last week, Chase shut down his critics, posting five catches for 101 yards and one touchdown on seven targets. The Bears have struggled with wideouts in their last nine games dating back to last season, allowing 16 touchdowns and nearly 40 fantastic points per game. Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd should all be considered fantasy managers.
Week 2 Start ‘Em, Sit’ Em
• QUARTERS
• TURNERS
• WIDE RECEIVERS
• TIGHT ENDS
• KICKERS
• TEAM DEFENSES
Start them
Antonio Brown vs. the Falcons (4:05 p.m. ET, FOX): Brown was Tampa Bay’s third wide in the Fantasy Draft, but led the line in points in Game 1. I expect the three, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Brown, to be solid options this week when the Bucs host the Falcons. Their defense gave up the third most fantastic points to wide receivers since Week 9 of 2020, including 41.3 points to the Eagles last weekend.
Courtland Sutton at Jaguars (1 p.m. ET, CBS): The Broncos have lost Jerry Jeudy for several weeks, which will leave more opportunities for Sutton. He was only targeted three times in Game 1, but Sutton also led all of the Broncos’ spreaders in the snaps played. I love him as WR3 / FLEX this week, as Denver faces a Jaguars defense that allowed 13 touchdowns and a 38.4-point spread average in their last 10 games.
Chase Claypool vs. Raiders (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Claypool was only targeted five times in the Steelers’ opener, but the game at Buffalo was tough. That’s not the case this week, as the Raiders visit Heinz Field. In their last 10 games, their defense has allowed wide opponents 12 touchdowns and an average of nearly 40 fantasy points. Diontae Johnson, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Claypool are all good options.
Marquez Callaway at Panthers (1 p.m. ET, FOX): Listed as a sit ’em in this space a week ago, Callaway scored just a fantastic 2.4 points against the Packers and stopped CB Jaire Alexander. However, I like his chances of bouncing back in Week 2 as the Panthers struggled against receivers. In their last nine games, their defense has allowed 14 touchdowns (including two to Corey Davis last week) to enemy spreaders.

Week 2 Sit ‘Em: wide receivers
Seat of the week
Robby Anderson vs. Saints (1 p.m. ET, FOX): Anderson opened the season on a decent note, scoring 12.7 points in a win over the Jets. However, he only managed one take on three targets and the showdown was favorable. That’s not the case this week, as he’ll face a Saints defense that only allowed spreaders six touchdowns in their last 10 games. Anderson also averaged just 9.8 points in three games against them.
Sit down
Kenny Golladay at Football Team (Thursday, 8:20 p.m. ET, NFL): Golladay had an uninspiring debut with the Giants, recording four catches for 64 yards in a loss to the Broncos. He’s got another tough clash ahead as the Giants head south to take on the soccer team. Their defense has allowed just eight touchdowns to wide receivers in the last 10 games, making Golladay a WR3 / FLEX at best this weekend.
Will Fuller V vs. Bills (1 p.m. ET, FOX): Fuller has completed his six-game suspension and will be back in action for the Dolphins when they host the Bills. Buffalo’s defense has been tough against enemy spreaders, allowing just eight touchdowns at the post in its last nine games. Fuller is also part of a crowded group of Miami receivers including DeVante Parker, Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesicki, so there are plenty of mouths to feed.
Marquise Brown vs. Chiefs (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC): Brown himself had a solid game on Monday night, scoring a fantastic touchdown and 19.4 points in a banana win over the Ravens. However, I wouldn’t chase points as a tough clash against the Chiefs is next on the list. Their defense has allowed wide receivers sixth fewer fantastic points in their last nine games, not to mention fourth few yards per game.
Michael Pittman Jr. vs. Rams (1 p.m. ET, FOX): Pittman was a popular streamer last week, but he failed to make an impact with just three catches on four targets in a loss to the Seahawks. As the Rams and CB Jalen Ramsey arrive in town, he will have an even tougher clash next on the slate. As of week 9 2020, Los Angeles has allowed just three touchdowns and the second lowest number of fantasy points to enemy wide receivers.
