Ohio is the last battleground in the struggle over whether state legislators have violated the US Constitution by ensuring that the polling districts benefit a political party. A federal trial must begin in Cincinnati. Similar cases have occurred in Texas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Maryland.

WEDNESDAY
• Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Many Christians lay ashes on their foreheads to symbolize mortality and repentance as they begin the six-week fasting and charity season culminating in Easter.
• The Chinese executive is back in court. Huawei's chief financial officer, seen by many as a pawn in the US-China trade battle, returns to court in Canada. US prosecutors allege that Meng Wanzhou and his company have tried to avoid US sanctions against Iran. His case is played out as President Donald Trump blocked a rise in the US tariff on Chinese products, saying he would welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping and finalize a trade deal.
FRIDAY
• Paul Manafort faces his first sentence. The former Trump campaign chairman is expected to learn his punishment for bank and tax fraud. Special advocate Robert Mueller wants a federal judge to send 69-year-old Manafort to prison for up to 24 years and fined him up to $ 24 million. The conviction of Manafort in a separate case is fixed five days later.
• Harvey Weinstein returns to court. The disgraced movie mogul is also expected in a pre-trial courtroom for five crime charges, including a predatory sexual assault and rape. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. The hearing for Weinstein, whose case has sparked a movement to combat sexual misconduct in the workplace, is taking place on the occasion of International Women's Day.
