A trio of state mega-sites for COVID-19 vaccines will be closed Sunday as New Jersey braces for its second snowstorm this week.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced on social media Saturday night that the mega-sites for vaccination in Burlington, Middlesex and Morris counties would be closed on Sunday.
Much of New Jersey is under a National Weather Service winter storm warning as a storm is expected to bring up to 8 inches of snow into the I-95 corridor on Sunday, and lower but still significant snow totals in d other parts of the state. .
The Middlesex County site, which is located at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, will see its appointments moved to Saturday, February 13.
In Morris County, appointments for the Rockaway Townsquare mega-site will be rescheduled until Wednesday, February 10.
And in Burlington County, appointments for the Moorestown Mall mega-site will be rescheduled to Monday, February 8; Tuesday February 9; and February 10.
The state’s other three immunization mega-sites, in Atlantic County, Bergen County and Gloucester County, will remain open despite the storm.
People who need to have their appointments rescheduled will be contacted by individual healthcare providers, according to the governor. Anyone with questions about mega-sites and immunizations in general are encouraged to call the state immunization call center at 855-568-0545.
This isn’t the first time the snow has forced the state to shut down vaccine mega-sites. All six sites were forcibly closed Monday by the nor’easter which left more than 30 inches of snow on the ground in parts of New Jersey.
