The kickoff of Penn State's match against Pitt at Beaver Stadium was delayed due to lightning in the area.

The stadium doors reopened just after noon and Penn State announced that the kickoff would be given at 12:40 pm.

The game was originally scheduled to start at noon, but Penn State announced around 11:40 that the start time had been delayed.

The National Weather Service reported thunderstorms accompanied by lightning within 5 miles of the stadium.

At approximately 11:10 am, supporters inside the stadium were requested to be housed in the lobby and those outside, to return to their vehicle or shelter at the Bryce Jordan Center, MI. Building, Ag Arena or Multisport Facilities. The stadium doors were then closed.

Both teams were cleared from the field about 10 minutes later.

The game will still be broadcast on ABC.
