State issues mask and vaccine guidelines for Colorado schools

DENVER (KKTV) – Colorado state officials said on Friday they would follow through and “clarify” the CDC’s recommendations for schools.

“Communities with higher transmission rates and low vaccination rates should continue to take increased precautions against COVID-19,” part of the guidelines says. “Local public health still has the power to enforce local public health orders, which may include quarantine requirements.”

Regarding mask requirements, the state currently leaves that to districts and individual schools as well as local public health agencies. However, the state recommends that local public health agencies and school districts consider either mask requirements for all unvaccinated people or for all people in schools, especially in high-risk environments. .

“Schools and school districts should ensure that every classroom is a welcome environment for students and staff who choose to protect themselves in this way,” the guide adds.

The guidelines strongly encourage vaccines for anyone who is eligible.
