Valve has announced that Sony’s PS5 DualSense is now supported in the beta version of the Steam client, giving those who have the console, and those hoping to get one, an additional place to use their controller.
The introduction of “initial entry support” was confirmed in the latest Steam client beta update, which means it is now possible for those who have opted in to the beta to use their DualSense controller on Steam.
It’s not worth anything though as the patch notes also state that “advanced features like rumble, trackpad, and gyroscope are not yet supported. This means that some of the more unique features of the DualSense, such as its adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, which receive a lot of praise, are currently not supported.
The use of the phrase “not yet” in the patch notes at least suggests that more full support could come later, so at some point PC developers and Steam users could. be able to make the most of these features. Nothing is guaranteed, however.
