Although this has not been confirmed, it seems that Anno 1800 becomes an exclusive Epic Games Store. Anno 1800, originally scheduled for a release of Steam, will no longer be available on Steam after its release date of April 16.
We will update this story when we confirm the Anno 1800 computer gaming store.
"Anno 1800's sales will be discontinued on Steam after April 16 due to the publisher's decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store," an opinion on The Steam page of Anno 1800 bed. "The publisher has assured us that all previous Steam game sales will be made on Steam and that Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC via Steam."
The notice does not mention what another store gets the exclusivity, but considering what has happened in recent months, it makes sense to assume that this 39 is Epic. Since 2018, several titles have left Steam just before their release to join Epic. Some games have even been quite big enough like those of Metro Exodus and The Division 2. Prior to Anno 1800, Borderlands 3 was the last A triple title to join Epic Games Store as an exclusive for six months, as opposed to the exclusivity of one year from other titles.
In addition, when Ubisoft announced that The Division 2 would be an exclusive Epic, Epic revealed that its partnership with Ubisoft would continue with "new selected titles". At that time, no additional details were provided, but Epic specified that the release of these securities was expected "in the next year". Anno 1800 meets these criteria, so it would be logical to see the launch of the game on Epic on April 16th.
There was a lot of vocal dissatisfaction with the games that are running exclusively on Epic, especially if the titles were originally released on Steam. After the announcement that Metro Exodus would leave Steam for Epic, Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light were heavily bombarded by players disappointed by the decision. The same thing happened with Borderlands, Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel after the revelation that Borderlands 3 would be an Epic exclusive.
