Operates from today until next Thursday.

Next Fest, Steam’s semi-regular online event – in which PC gamers are invited to slowly drown in a never-ending deluge of demos for upcoming games – returns today, October 1.

Originally titled the Steam Game Festival, this eighth outing for the indie-focused event (which received the nickname Next Fest in June), runs for seven days – it ends next Thursday, October 7 – and promises “hundreds” of new demos and oodles of live broadcasts from the developers.

A full list of demos, along with a full release schedule, can be found on Steam’s upcoming festival landing page. As always, it’s intimidating lineup and hard to know where to start, but we’ll try to help you out by highlighting some of our favorites throughout the coming week.

Steam Next Fest: October 2021 edition

Valve’s previous Next Fest gave us tantalizing glimpses of Nuke Zone, Road 96, and Death Trash, plus plenty more (while the formidable Dorfromantik caught our eye in March), so it’s worth having a look. parchment and see what catches your eye.

And, of course, if you’re particularly blown away by any of your demo findings, feel free to share them below.
