The Pittsburgh Steelers announced several trades on Tuesday following the announcement of their deal with outside free agent to linebacker Melvin Ingram on Monday.

The Steelers made Ingram’s signing official on Tuesday morning and, as previously reported, it is a one-year contract. Additionally, the Steelers announced on Tuesday that they have also signed a one-year contract against free agent Chaz Green.

Green, a former 2015 third-round pick with the Dallas Cowboys in Florida, played 15 games in 2020 for the Indianapolis Colts, starting one of them. He missed most of his 2015 rookie season with a hip injury, but was added to the squad roster at the end of the season but did not play. He played a total of 18 games in 2016 and 2017, starting six.

Green has since spent time with the New Orleans Saints (2018), Oakland Raiders (2018), Denver Broncos (2019) and Colts. He played a total of 37 games, starting eight, during his six-year career. He suffered a few injuries along the way.

The one-year contract Green signed is likely a veterans benefits contract with a base salary of $ 990,000 and a reduced cap charge of $ 850,000. It’s doubtful he got a signing bonus or anything guaranteed. Ingram’s one-year contract with the Steelers is said to total $ 4 million.

To make room for Ingram and Green on the team’s 53-man roster, the Steelers gave up tackle Jarron Jones and outside linebacker Calvin Bundage, who was one of the team’s undrafted rookie free agents. signed earlier in the offseason. As for Jones, a product of Notre Dame, he spent the 2020 season on the Steelers training squad.

The Bundage waiver on Tuesday results in a dead money charge of $ 2,500 in 2021 and a dead money charge of $ 5,000 in 2022.
