It looks like the Week 9 clash between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers was about one side derailing what the other thought was happening. Entering as massive two-touchdown underdogs meant to be gutted on their own turf, the 2-6 Cowboys instead gave the Steelers 7-0 the game of their lives before falling into a 24-19 nailbiter, largely thanks to JuJu Smith-Schuster comes to life in the fourth quarter.
Quiet for much of the game, the flashy Pro Bowl wide receiver caught a pass from Ben Roethlisberger early in the final session and maneuvered his way past two defensemen to score his only touchdown on the day and reduce the Steelers’ deficit just four points. . He would then appear immediately and walk towards the midfielder, intending to emulate the famous Terrell Owens celebration of 2000 – when Owens ran to the Star logo and posed before being leveled by safety George Teague – but Smith- Schuster’s plan was cut short when defensive end Randy Gregory slapped the ball with his hands.

Still determined, the Smith-Schuster picked up the ball and started sprinting down midfield anyway, only to see defensive lineman Antwaun Woods patrolling, waiting for him to kick. Former Woods teammate at USC, Smith-Schuster ultimately spoke out against his original plan – after admitting after the game that mirroring Owens was exactly what he was set to do.
After seeing Smith-Schuster sneak in to do a pre-game Tik Tok dance on the Star in midfield, before the Cowboys took the pitch, Woods was on red alert for the celebration attempt during the game.
“I saw a video before the game that featured him,” Woods told media after the game. “He always does stuff on TikTok. I knew that with him being my teammate in college, that was something he could do. I was going to make sure he didn’t make it.
“We have zero tolerance for this.”
Instead, Smith-Schuster partied on the 20-yard line without a break.
For his part, although the celebration did not take place in the midfield, Owens appreciated.
“I see you JuJu !!!” tweeted the Hall of Fame receiver. “Let them know !!!”
Smith-Schuster finished the game with a total of 93 receiving yards and set the standard for Roethlisberger, with tight end Eric Ebron both helping to keep the Steelers unbeaten going into Week 10. The Cowboys defense, who has always been bad in 2020, played with fire and discipline for the second week in a row – with the last two losses more down to the struggling offense and quarterback carousel following the season-ending injury to Dak Prescott.
They forced the Steelers to the lowest point of the season and almost shocked the world in the process, but they almost don’t count, and everyone involved understands that fact. But if Gregory and Woods couldn’t win their team in Week 9, for them the least they could do is protect the Star.
