CINCINNATI – The Bengals face the Steelers on Sunday for the first time this season.
Cincinnati enters with a 2-5-1 record. Pittsburgh is a perfect 8-0 after Sunday’s comeback win over the Cowboys.
The Steelers opened as a 9-point favorites according to punters. That didn’t stop the Bengals from shooting their unbeaten rivals on Tuesday morning.
The Bengals posted a short clip of TJ Houshmandzadeh cleaning his cleats with a “Terrible Towel” after Cincinnati’s 38-31 victory over Pittsburgh at Heinz Field in 2005. The Houshmandzadeh video has become legendary in NFL circles. This moment is remembered by fans of the Bengals and Steelers.
Former Steelers guard Ramon Foster was the first to respond to the tweet.
“It never ends well … proud of yourself even as a little brother,” he tweeted. “Daddy (Steelers) said he got home before the lights came on.”
Current Ravens linebacker LJ Fort was quick to jump into the action.
“The PR team writing checks, they have no money,” Fort said.
The conversation continued.
“Throwing unnecessary gas on a fire that always burns well,” Foster continued.
The Steelers have won 10 straight regular season games against the Bengals and lead the all-time series 66-35.
Despite the story behind the rivalry, Cincinnati has a lot of new faces who are excited to prove people wrong.
“It’s a different challenge for me,” Bengals goalie Vonn Bell said on Tuesday. “Being an underdog and always being counted. It breeds growth. It really brings another side of you that you haven’t seen and that’s what’s great. I take challenges really well, I’m improving. and I improve the team as much as I can. That’s life. I just have to accept it and get out of the park when your number is called. “
