The Cleveland Browns beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a wildcard weekend, and some took it better than others.
One Steeler who didn’t make friends on the exit was rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool, who made waves earlier this week by saying the loss was good because the Browns are going to get blasted by the Chiefs of Kansas City:
“You know, a bad loss, but uh, the Browns are going to be applauded next week,” Claypool said. “It’s perfect.”
It’s not hard to see why some people made fun of Claypool for being bitter about the loss.
Claypool appeared to double down, then some on Wednesday when DAZN Canada posted an interview in which Claypool called the Browns ‘super classless’, criticized their mockery of teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster, complained about being disrespected and again said the Chiefs would beat the Browns on Sunday:
“I think if the Browns had won with more class I wouldn’t have been so salty about it, but they made fun of JuJu during the game and after the game, it didn’t suit me.
“They were just super classless, against JuJu, towards JuJu what they were saying on the pitch towards the end of the match. I’m not going to have any respect for a team that doesn’t respect us.
“They can enjoy the win and another week of football, but they’ll be on the couch right next to me next week, so it’s okay.”
Claypool’s defense when it sparked a new wave of contempt on the internet: claiming it was an old interview. Up to two days, even.

Hopefully for Claypool this will be the last he says about it. Browns linebacker Sione Takitaki, who called Claypool “salty” for his original comment, ended up taking the high road asked about the “super classless” comments:
“I have nothing to say about it. The game is over. We don’t play these guys. Obviously, he’s a great player, a good kid. But we are well beyond that.
The Smith-Schuster mockery Claypool complained about came immediately after the wild card game, the Browns’ first playoff win in 1994, there’s an entire franchise. The Browns gleefully trolled the wide receiver, who had inadvertently provided scoreboard material with his ‘Browns is the Browns’ quote and videos of himself dancing to other team logos (for which Claypool has served as cameraman).
If the Browns get upset against the Chiefs 14-2, you can imagine the trolling will be directed to another Steelers wide receiver on Sunday.
