Steph Curry is having an incredible season.
The two-time NBA MVP averages 29.6 points, 5.9 assists and 5.4 rebounds in 25 games, while shooting 48.7% overall and 42.9% in territory at 3 points.
But according to an ESPN poll, Curry is currently not one of the NBA’s top five MVP contenders.
He’s not even in the top six.
Curry placed seventh after receiving one first place vote, one second place vote, one third place vote, two fourth place votes and eight fifth place votes.
So yes – it only appeared on 13 of the 100 ballots.
“To make the ballot as realistic as possible, there are at least two voters from each of the league’s 28 markets, as well as a representative sample of national and international journalists,” writes Tim Bontemps. As with the official NBA voting at the end of the season, voters were asked to submit a five-player ballot, and the results were tabulated using the league’s scoring system: 10 points for each vote for first place, followed by seven points for second, five. points for third, three points for fourth and one point for fifth. “

LeBron James had the most points, followed by Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The six guys are having fantastic seasons and deserve their positioning.

But clearly, Curry didn’t get a lot of love, mainly because the Warriors (13-12) are in eighth place in the Western Conference.
But if you keep playing like this – and if Golden State starts winning more games – you better believe that the only unanimous MVP in NBA history will rise through the ranks when the next straw poll is released.
