Stephen Colbert mocks Trump’s ‘incredibly sad’ vaccine statement

Stephen Colbert has opened The late show Thursday – a year to the day since COVID-19 was officially declared a pandemic – playing a slightly modified version of the new PSA featuring four former presidents.

In addition to clips of Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter each promoting vaccination, this one included Donald Trump predicting that the virus would magically “disappear” without needing a vaccine.

In fact, the 45th president was nowhere to be found in the ad, which went online Thursday morning. After dusting off his impression of mocking Bush for choosing a baseball game as the thing he is most excited to do now that he’s been vaccinated, Colbert addressed the living former president who is obviously missing.

“Maybe his invitation got lost in the mail… because he destroyed the postal service!” the host joked. “Ol ’45 was kicked out of the POTUS PSA party, but he released his own statement on the vaccine.”
