BOSTON (AP) – The master of the American horror novel gave $ 1.25 million to masters of American genealogical research.
Stephen King and his wife, Tabitha, made this donation through their foundation to the New England Historic Genealogical Society.
The Boston-based organization is the oldest and largest genealogical society in the country. He says he will use the gift announced Tuesday to develop educational programming and fund a family history program for public school students.
This will also help the organization to enlarge its headquarters.
Brenton Simons is President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. He says that money will have "considerable profits."
The society says that kings have a deep personal interest in family and local history and their importance in education.
