Best-selling author Stephen King showed his contempt for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.
“Ron DeSantis is probably not the brightest bulb in the chandelier at the best of times,” the horror writer said during a discussion of adoring politician Donald Trump’s disastrous handling of the COVID pandemic -19 and the crisis of the red tide in the state.
“So, not a bad genius?” asked host Stephen Colbert. “Not a brain? “
“No, I wouldn’t say that,” King replied. “You know, he has that deer look in the headlights sort of.”
“Deer in the headlights hoping it’s two motorcycles going to miss him,” said Colbert.
“That’s exactly it,” agreed King, who was promoting his latest book “Billy Summers”.

King, originally from Maine, now spends half of the year in Sarasota County, Florida.
“I didn’t really want to go (to Florida), but once you’re 65 and you’re not playing tennis very well, it’s the law,” the novelist joked to Colbert.
Living in the Sunshine State has allowed King to observe DeSantis “quite closely,” he explained.
King has repeatedly used Twitter this month to call on DeSantis to ban mask warrants, even as Florida has become the epicenter of the highly transmissible delta variant.
