Former Trump adviser Stephen Miller called President Biden’s first address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday a “missed opportunity” for the president to present his foreign policy doctrine and give a detailed explanation of the situation. STEPHEN MILLER: I think it was a real missed opportunity. The whole world was really interested in knowing what would be Biden’s doctrine, what would be his philosophy. The UN speech is the only one in a president’s calendar speech for a year as the only time the whole world listens only to the president discussing foreign policy. You remember, in President Trump’s first speech to the UN in 2017, he laid out this new doctrine to say that we are going to reject globalism from top to bottom, we are going to reject world governance. Instead, we’ll focus on each nation–States finding common ground and working together in a fund–up. And that really animated the entire Trump presidency, it animated the peace accords that were made and that was the heart of that speech. I listened to today’s speech trying to hear it, and I just couldn’t find it. The second missed opportunity obviously concerned Afghanistan. The whole congregation, everyone watching at home here in America, and people all over the world wanted to hear a detailed, thoughtful, and lengthy explanation of the decisions that were made. You have a captive audience. You can easily talk for an hour if you want. And I don’t think we’ve heard more than, frankly, a few sentences on the matter.

It was really amazing for everything he didn’t say… It was Biden’s luck. Whether you disagree with him or not, it was his chance with a captive audience to say, “You know what, France? Here is why I did it. And, “You know what, NATO allies? Here’s why I did that.” But instead of seizing the opportunity, it was sort of a parade of platitudes. And so totally from an objective point of view, whatever side of the political spectrum you find yourself in, I think you were really disappointed that he didn’t address these issues.
