We did not expect to cry so much early in the morning. The first trailer of "Waves," starring Sterling K. Brown in what looks like a deeply moving and thought-provoking performance, is colorful and delightful and might move you as well.

"Waves" is the latest film by director Trey Edward Shults, who has already made an appearance with "Krisha" and "It Comes at Night". It premieres at TIFF starting September 10th after its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.

Brown plays the role of a well-meaning but domineering father in an Afro-American family in suburban South Florida. They navigate in love, forgiveness and gather after a defeat, and all this takes place in the background of blue celestial waves. A24 publishes the film and describes it as a "heartbreaking story about the universal capacity for compassion and growth, even in the darkest moments."

"Lord knows I held too much hate in my life," Brown said through the tears in the caravan. "All we have is the present, all we have is the present."

The trailer also contains an inspiring score and cinematography that should remind you of A24's award-winning movie "Moonlight". "Waves" is also a star of Kelvin Harrison, son, Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, Alexa Demie and Renee Elise Goldsberry.

"Waves" opens its doors in theaters on November 1st.
