Steve Atwater and John Lynch, two former Broncos players, have been named to the Professional Football Hall of Fame nominee list for the 2020 category in the modern era.

The Hall of Fame announced Thursday the list of 122 players.

Atwater is a finalist twice, while Lynch has been named a finalist six times. The two men, who are already members of the Broncos group, were finalists in 2019.

Atwater spent 10 of his 11 seasons in the NFL in Denver, where he recorded eight Pro Bowl selections and two selections from the first All-Pro team. He has 1,356 career shots and 24 interceptions and has been named to the NFL's last ten-year squad.

Lynch, who has two selections from the first All-Pro team to his name, has been a Pro Bowler in each of his four seasons in Denver. Including his time in Tampa, Lynch recorded 1,054 career tackles, 13.0 sacks, 26 steals and 16 forced fumbles. He has been selected for the Pro Bowl nine times.

Several other players with ties to Broncos have also been added to the list, including Jason Elam, Rod Smith, Neil Smith, Clinton Portis, Simeon Rice and Chester McGlockton.

The Hall of Fame will reduce the list of nominees to the 25 semi-finalists in November and 15 finalists in early January.

On February 1, 2020, the 48-member selection committee will elect five players from the modern era to join the 2020 Professional Football Hall of Fame promotion.
