Steve Cohen won’t let J-Rod live up to their failed offer to buy the Mets.
During Jennifer Lopez’s performance at Sunday’s American Music Awards, Entertainment Weekly tweeted: “Is there something @Jlo can’t do?” to which the new Mets owner replied a day later, “I’ll give you a hint, it’s a team in New York.”
Cohen beat Lopez and her fiance Alex Rodriguez in a high-profile offer to buy the Mets from the Wilpon family for $ 2.4 billion last month.
Cohen, 64, also appeared to hit the star-studded couple during their introductory press conference this month.
When asked about the other bidders, the longtime Mets fan and Long Island native responded with a smile, “Who are the other bidders? I do not remember.
He later wished Lopez and Rodriguez good luck.
