Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr remains optimistic: the team will use Kevin Durant's services on the occasion of the 2019 NBA finals against the Toronto Raptors.
"I think he'll be playing in the series, "said Kerr about Durant KNBR 680. "I think he's lucky he's playing in game 5 or 6. "
Durant, who continues to heal a calf strain, has not played since the Warriors Game 5 win over the Houston Rockets in the second round.
After the 123-109 Golden Game 3 defeat against the Raptors, Kerr told reporters He thought Durant might be ready to handle the 5 to 5 or 3 to 3 training sessions on Thursday for his return to the field.
the San Francisco Chronicleof Connor Letourneau reported, however, he has not received permission to practice and that it is not clear when he will get the go ahead.
Kerr explained how difficult the nature of the injury is in determining the status of Durant's recovery: "It was so difficult to report … the injury itself, there are many gray areas. There's no easy schedule … when it's healthy, it's healthy. "
Golden State received good news on Thursday. Kerr confirmed that Klay Thompson should be ready for Game 4 on Friday.

On the basis of their loss Wednesday, the Warriors could hardly afford to be without Durant and Thompson again. The team was forced to rely on Stephen Curry to an unhealthy degree while he scored 47 points and accounted for half of the 12 out of 12 Golden State shootings, and that was still not enough to avoid falling behind in the series.
Maybe the Warriors could survive without Durant and win their fourth NBA title in five seasons. Although Kerr is hopeful about the star player's health ten times, the lingering uncertainty about his availability is worrisome.
