CNN, quoting two GOP sources, reported that King had asked the White House if he could join Trump during his visit and that Trump administration officials had rejected his request.

The Hill solicited comments from King's office and the White House.

Mr. King, a nine-member congressman representing the 4th District of Iowa, drew the country's attention to his speech on immigration and was removed from office in the United States. committee earlier this year for its comments on white nationalism.
