STEVENS POINT, Wisconsin – A major employer in Stevens Point will reduce its workforce by at least one-third over the next two years.

The Donaldson Co. manufacturing plant has laid off 29 employees at the hour and six salaried employees this week. The spokesman, Beck Cahn, told the Stevens Point Journal that he was going to reduce his workforce from 150 to 200 additional employees over the next two years.

The company employs approximately 550 people in the plant, which manufactures hydraulic filters, oil filters and fuel filters for customers in the powertrain and industrial hydraulics industries. After the restructuring, the plant will employ between 250 and 300 people.

Donaldson operates 140 facilities in 40 countries. Cahn says that the restructuring of the company is underway.
