While she only had five concerts on the program for 2021, Stevie Nicks decided to cancel them all, the singer announced on Tuesday.
“These are tough times with tough decisions that need to be made,” Nicks said in a statement. “I want everyone to be safe and healthy and that the increase in Covid cases should be of concern to all of us. Although I am vaccinated, at my age I am still extremely careful and for this reason I decided to skip the 5 performances I had planned for 2021.
“Because singing and performing have been my whole life, my main goal is to stay healthy so that I can continue singing for the next decade or more,” the statement concluded. “I am devastated and I know the fans are disappointed, but we will look to a brighter 2022.”

The New Orleans festival was canceled Monday, but the other festivals plan to announce replacement numbers in the coming days; an hour after Nicks’ announcement, BottleRock said country star Chris Stapleton will take his place at the headliner.

Nicks released a new song ahead of last year’s presidential election titled “Show Them the Way”, with Dave Grohl on drums and Greg Kurstin on production. “I hope this song and its lyrics will be seen as a prayer – a prayer for our country and a prayer for the world. It’s a pretty heavy song,” she told Variety. “I hope people understand that it’s not partisan – that it’s not for Republicans, it’s not for Democrats. It’s supposed to be a time of peace for everyone, and … You know the silliness where people say “Can’t everyone get along? ‘It’s like, can we find a way out of this horrible thing that we got into?
