Sting would be a regular character for AEW
After Sting’s surprise appearance on AEW Dynamite’s Winter is Coming on Wednesday night, the icon will apparently stick around.
Through Dave meltzer sure Wrestling Observer Radio (h / t Sai Mohan of WrestlingInc.com), Sting will be a regular TV character in AEW.
Meltzer noted that Sting “Won’t take any bumps,” which comes as no surprise given that his last WWE match against Seth Rollins in 2015 ended early when he injured his neck from taking a turnbuckle powerbomb.
A significant difference between AEW and WWE is that the old company uses big name managers and stars who can cut promos. Apart from Paul Heyman, WWE really has no one to speak on for its performers.
AEW used Jake Roberts, Taz, and Arn Anderson, to name a few, as managers. Sting could join this list, though it’s unclear exactly what role he’ll play on TV.
Jericho discusses the Undertaker
As Chris Jericho continues to shine every week on AEW, the demo god recalls his time in WWE with some regret.
Appearing on David Penzer’s podcast (h / t PWMania.com), Jericho called it “amazing” that he never had a pay-per-view singles match against The Undertaker:
“I think we only ever had 2 singles matches on TV. We never crossed paths. I was always on SmackDown when it was on RAW and vice versa. We had a great Elimination Chamber match and a few other multi-team matches but us I’ve never had this great singles match which is one of those things that amazes me never to have been booked. Everyone respects The Undertaker. “
Jericho also called the Dead Man “a pleasure to be there” and “one of the greatest, if not the greatest character in WWE history. “
The Undertaker’s in-ring career ended at Survivor Series when he cut a final promo to state that his “now is the time to let The Undertaker rest in peace. “
Jericho and The Undertaker worked together in WWE for almost two full decades from 1999 to 2018. The last time these two were in the same match was at the pay-per-view Elimination Chamber in 2010 when Jericho took over. pinned Undertaker after Shawn Michaels interference to win. the world heavyweight title.
A singles match between Jericho and Undertaker on pay-per-view is one of those dream matches wrestling fans would discuss for years.
While this never happened during their time in WWE, the few times they crossed paths made television entertaining.
Strowman probably won’t be short on time
WWE has reportedly received good news regarding Braun Strowman’s knee injury.
By Bryan Alvarez from Wrestling Observer Live (h / t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), Strowman doesn’t need surgery and may not miss a lot of time.
Meltzer reported on November 29 that Strowman was struck off Raw this week after injuring his knee in Team Raw’s victory over Team Smackdown at Survivor Series.
The Monster Among Men was initially going to be considered for a championship match against Drew McIntyre on TLC, but WWE announced an indefinite suspension when he attacked official Adam Pearce on the Nov. 24 edition of Raw.
AJ Styles defeated Keith Lee and Matt Riddle in a triple threat match on Monday’s show to win the title against McIntyre.
Strowman had a hot singles streak before injuring his knee. The 300-plus pounder has lost just one singles match since September, to Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title in the October 16 episode of Friday Night Smackdown.
Even though Strowman’s injury forced WWE to adjust his plans, he could still be in line for a match with McIntyre. The champion will need an opponent at the Royal Rumble if he defeats Styles on December 20.
